Asake Drops Another Hit Titled “Terminator”

Our resident Mr Money and Nigerian superstar, Asake, dropped a new record on August 19th, 2022, which he calls, “Terminator”. Prior to the release, Asake had previously teased a snippet of the song on social media, sending fans into a frenzy. The song booms with the captivating vocals of Asake and takes a masterful upbeat tempo, worked by the producer, Magicsticks Beats. The lyrics are catchy and vibrant, as usual, and spiced with the Yoruba language. The song carries a lustful eulogy where Asake sensually adulates a love interest, vowing in the chorus: Sho ni power, boni ko wa / elemi lo ma last” which, in English means “if you have power, come and show me / but it’s only the strong that’ll last.” It symbolically correlates with the video of the song, directed by TG Omori, showing Asake in a boxing ring with a crowd cheering him on as he defeats his opponent.

Born Ahmed Ololade Asake, the artist commonly goes by the mononym, Asake. He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University where he studied Drama and Performing Arts and started as a dancer before delving into music. In 2015, he released “Joha” which gained traction and gave him the drive he needed to plunge fully into music. His debut EP, Ololade Asake, exposed him to the mainstream soundscape and since then, he has been at his top game in the music industry. From “Mr Money” to “Omo Ope”, “Trabaye”, the renowned “Sungba”, “Palazzo”, “Peace Be Unto You” and just recently, “Terminator”, every record by Asake has been a banger. He proves time and time again to be merciless with this music thing, shooting off straight hits that keep the social buzz of societies pulsating and the heart of night-lives beating. The Nigerian music industry continues to soar and Asake’s music has contributed in sonically carrying 2022.

Thus, it comes with little shock that his new single, “Terminator” has jumped up to the #1 spot. At this rate, the anticipation for his new album, Mr. Money with the Vibe, which is set to drop September 2nd, 2022, is at an astronomical high.
